STS 2019 Scholars by the numbers
The participants at this year鈥檚 Regeneron Science Talent Search, the nation鈥檚 premiere science competition, come from hundreds of schools, dozens of states and have thousands of hours of scientific research and study between them. The 300 scholars were determined from an applicant pool of nearly 2,000 students. The numbers are abound. Here are a few more statistics concerning the 2019 Regeneron STS Scholars.
47% percent of scholars are female and 49% are male
188 scholars are involved in athletics
142 scholars play a musical instrument
233 scholars participate in volunteer work
The scholars this year hail from 39 different states
2 of the scholars go to US schools overseas (Canada and China)
184 different high schools are represented by the scholars this year
36 scholars speak a language in addition to English
